MacID is administered by University Technology Services (UTS). The UTS account management page has detailed instructions on how to:

  • Change your MacID password
  • Reset a forgotten MacID password
  • Recover a forgotten MacID (username)

The McMaster VPN is maintained by UTS.

All required software and detailed instructions on how to set up the McMaster VPN can be found on the UTS Virtual Private Networking Page.

Software

McMaster offers many popular pieces of software at reduced cost, or in some cases free, to faculty or staff depending on the software package. Here are some links to popular applications and McMaster Resources:

Hardware

The McMaster University bookstore also sells some computer hardware. Other vendors have special offers that McMaster faculty and staff can access via MacBuy.

 

Here are IT-related groups and sites across McMaster:

University Technology Services (UTS) – UTS is the central IT body for most of the McMaster Main Campus.

Office 365 Support Hub – Home for McMaster Office 365 apps and support.

DSB Ron Joyce Centre IT Support – Computing Services & Printing at the RJC.

Multi-factor authentication is an easy way to protect online accounts like your Microsoft 365 email, calendar, and files.  For information or to get started, visit the UTS MFA homepage.

McMaster University offers Microsoft Office 365 at no charge to students, staff, and faculty, and includes access to leading productivity and collaboration tools for everyone in the community.  Office 365 also includes access to download the Office 365 ProPlus applications which can be installed on up to 5 devices, Windows or Mac, as well as unlimited mobile devices for iOS, Android, & Windows Phone.

UTS offers both Zoom and MS Teams for web conferencing, as well as advice on which tool is best for different uses. For example, UTS strongly recommends that students, staff and faculty members use Microsoft Teams for any sessions or interactions containing sensitive information. You can get access to zoom, and learn more about your web conferencing options by visiting the UTS Zoom page.

You can get information on the MedSIS project, access training resources, and submit help requests at the MedSIS homepage.

You may search the campus classroom directory to find classrooms that meet your criteria.

The legacy MacFacts system is being replaced by the new FHS-DB system in the near future. In the meantime, existing resources and information can be found on the MacFacts website.

CSU does not offer credit card processing services. FHS recommends any group needing to take credit card payments online consult with our preferred partner, the McMaster Campus Store. Please contact Donna Shapiro for more information.

Telecommunications, including the Avaya softphone system are managed by UTS. Please visit the UTS telecom homepage for information, guides, and other help resources.

CSU does not operate a walk-in service centre. Visitors to CSU require an appointment. Please co-ordinate with the CSU staff member working with you to determine when and where to meet. Once at CSU, please use the doorbell on the main door to alert staff to your arrival.
